Castillo, Pittsfield Down Drury
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Harolyn Castillo recorded another double-double Friday to lead the Pittsfield girls basketball team to a 55-27 win over Drury.
Castillo scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and was credited with seven steals.
Caprese Conyers scored 14 points, and Kyana Summers matched Castillo with 11 boards for the Generals, who led, 25-7, at half-time.
“Ultimately, this loss is on me,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “I didn’t do a good enough job preparing the team. You can try to simulate the speed and physicality that PHS plays with, but it’s hard to truly duplicate it. I do believe the girls listened, bought into the game plan, and tried to execute it, but I didn’t do a good enough job explaining and preparing them for certain situations.”
Delaney Hayden scored eight points to lead Drury, which got six points from Ashlyn Hayden.
The Blue Devils (4-2) are at Pope Francis on Tuesday.
Pittsfield (5-0) hosts Minnechaug on Tuesday.
