Shea, Hurricanes Win State Tourney Opener

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Reagan Shea scored 18 points Saturday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 64-22 win over Snowden International School in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.

 

Genevieve Lagesse and Gianna Witek each scored 12 points for ninth-seeded Hurricanes.

 

Hoosac Valley built a 37-8 lead by half-time with a 21-point second quarter, when Shea hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points.

 

Witek helped put the game away with 10 points in the third, when the Hurricanes outscored the visitors, 16-4.

 

Hoosac Valley (7-13) will travel to eighth-seeded Granby on Monday in the Sweet 16.
