DALTON, Mass. -- Julia O’Connor got 19 points, Wahconah got the win and Berkshire County girls basketball fans got their wish.

Sixth-seeded Wahconah Monday defeated No. 11 Narragansett, 59-32, in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.

That sets the stage for Round 3 between Wahconah and third-seeded, five-time defending sectional champion Hoosac Valley (18-2), which had a bye in the first round of the tourney.

The two teams split their regular season meetings. The rubber match in the quarter-finals will decide who goes on to play at Curry Hicks Cage next week.

On Monday night, Maria Gamberoni scored 11, and Cassie Tobler added 10 for Wahconah, which got six points from Abbie Steinman.

Hannah Chapman led No. 11 Narragansett (12-9) with 20 points.
