Northampton Girls Pull Away Late to Top Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Northampton girls basketball team pulled away in the second half Thursday to hand Pittsfield a 65-45 loss in the season opener for both teams.
 
PIttsfield trailed by just three, 25-22, at half-time. It was a 10-point game through three quarters, but the Blue Devils scored 21 points in the fourth to open up an insurmountable margin.
 
Jordyn Lummus scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Pittsfield.
 
Alexi Sondrini and Emery Sime added 12 and 10, respectively, in the loss, and Emma King had nine boards.
 
Pittsfield goes to Wahconah on Saturday.
