Pittsfield Rolls to Sweet 16 Win

The pair combined for 30 points as the fifth-seeded Generals earned a date in the state quarter-finals against No. 13 Old Rochester.
On Tuesday, Pittsfield took a 31-10 lead into half-time against North Reading but did not lose its focus.
“The same as the last game for the girls, it is 0-0 at halftime. No matter the score, it's a new game,” Generals coach Kristy Conyers said. "Come out and we play like the game has not started.”
Pittsfield has shown many sparks in its interior defense during the state playoffs, including its dominant performance against North Reading on Tuesday, holding the Hornets to only 17 total points.

Ariana Demetri gave her team their all on Tuesday scoring 10 of those 17.
She was the only scorer for her team late in the game recording her team's only points in the fourth quarter.
Pittsfield had the momentum from the very beginning of the contest. Scoring on their first four possessions, including three 3-pointers from Bre’Jai Ellerbee.
Going into the second quarter holding a 10-point lead, Pittsfield clamped down on defense, holding North Reading to only five points scored in the period.
This trend continued throughout the remainder of the contest, including just two points for North Reading in the fourth.
“We have to just keep playing tough basketball going forward, stay heavy with our defense and continue to make the tough shots," Pittsfield's Caprese Conyers said.
“My groove has really set in this game and I feel like it impacts our team as a whole going forward, cause they keep pushing me to do better together.”
