Most of the flooding is in the middle of the road and into abutting residents' yards, sometimes reaching a depth of 6 inches near the Pease Avenue and Appletree Lane intersections to the East Branch of the Housatonic River.
North Adams received the highest amount in the county: $2.25 million for public and private development projects. Pittsfield is getting $540,000 for six projects and Cheshire, Dalton and Great Barrington up to $1 million each for road projects.
And it was at Greylock Works, that Gov. Maura Healey chose to announce one of her first priorities — the filing of a $987 million bond authorization targeting housing and economic development.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced the grant on Wednesday, part of the $143 million in grant awards disbursed in this round of which more than $12 million went to Berkshire County.
The project, a collaboration between the town and Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, will include 19 affordable, energy efficient homes on a 7.25-acre site.
Town Administrator Carl McKinney told the Select Board on Wednesday that the application for a $1 million grant was submitted prior to July 6 and the town should hear if it's been accepted by the end of August.
