Four new administrators join MCLA admissions office

NORTH ADAMS - Four new administrators, including two Assistant Directors, have joined the MCLA Admissions Office. Sherri Crean has taken on the role of Assistant Director of Transfer Admission, while Caissa McClinton is the new Assistant Director of Admission and Multicultural Recruitment. In addition, both Joshua Mendel and Peter Sison have taken on the role of full-time Admission Counselors. Crean comes from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she was senior assistant director of admissions since 1997. In this capacity, she focused heavily on managing the transfer admission process. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Wheaton College and a Master of Science in student personnel from Springfield College. In her new role, she will oversee the transfer admissions process of students focusing on increasing enrollments from community colleges. McClinton most recently comes from Mount Holyoke College where she served as assistant director of admission and coordinator of ALANA Outreach since 2002. Prior to that, she worked at MCLA as the coordinator of the Student Diversity Team, which was a collaboration between the College and Drury High School. McClinton holds a Master of Education specializing in multicultural education from the University of Massachusetts and a B.A. in psychology from Mount Holyoke College. She will be focusing on enhancing the multicultural recruitment plan in order to enroll a higher percentage of underrepresented populations at MCLA. Mendel, who is from Adams, earned both his B.S. in business and Master of Counseling from Assumption College. His most recent experience in the field of higher education was at Endicott College, where he served as Director of Residential Life. He also previously served as a Residence Director at Assumption College. At MCLA he is focusing on freshmen admission. Sison previously worked for the MCLA Admissions Office on a part-time basis assisting with College fairs and high school visits. He graduated from MCLA in 2003 with a B.A. in English/Communications, and is originally from North Andover, Mass. He also will work on freshmen admission at MCLA. In commenting on the new Admissions administrators, Denise Richardello, vice president of enrollment and external affairs said, "I am very pleased with the experience and energy that these new staff members bring to the MCLA Admissions Office. I am confident that they will prove to be valuable resources to high school students throughout Berkshire County and beyond who are eager to learn about their higher education options."

Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
