The Red Lion Inn introduces new spring menus

Stockbridge - Executive Chef Brian J. Alberg of The Red Lion Inn has introduced new spring menus in the Inn's Main Dining Room and Widow Bingham's Tavern, featuring dishes ingredients that are currently coming into season. New entrees on the Main Dining Room dinner menu include Pan-Seared Lamb T-Bones, served with a Rawson Brook Chevre Potato Cake and Sautéed Spinach ($28), Grilled Stone Church Farms Duck Breast with Port-Fig Reduction ($26); and Pan-Seared Sea Bass served with Lobster Mashed Potatoes ($26). Appetizers include an Asparagus Salad ($8), Yellow Fin Tuna Nicoise ($13), and Steamed Prince Edward Mussels ($9). As always, the dinner menu also includes traditional Red Lion dishes like New England Clam Chowder ($7), Roasted Native Turkey with Farmhouse Stuffing ($23), and Roast Prime Rib of Beef, served with a buttery popover and natural jus ($30). For lunch, Chef Alberg has introduced Grilled Sea Scallop Brochette ($16), Plum Tomato & Smoked Cheddar Quiche ($11), "Campfire" Trout Fillets ($15), and a Grilled Petit Filet Mignon ($19). More casual fare is available in the rustic Widow Bingham's Tavern, where the lunch and dinner menus now feature Grilled Portabella Foccacia ($10), an "S.L.T" sandwich, prepared from Atlantic salmon, mesclun greens, and vine-ripened tomatoes ($12), and Grilled Flat-Iron Steak ($18), as well as sandwiches, salads and burgers. The new dessert menu includes Frozen Lemon Tart with Fresh Berries & Pistachio Tuille, Macadamia Nut Tart with Caramel Sauce & Whipped Cream, and Profiteroles with Raspberry Mousse & Minted Chocolate Sauce, as well as the Inn's famous Apple Pie and numerous other specialties. Desserts are priced from $6.50 to $8.00. Breakfast is served in the Main Dining Room from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The inn's restaurants serve lunch daily from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., and dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. (10:00 p.m. on weekends). The Lion's Den pub is open weekends from noon to 1 a.m. and weekdays from 4:00 p.m., with nightly live entertainment. Located in the center of Stockbridge's historic Main Street district, The Red Lion's restaurants are open to the public as well as guests of the 108-room historic inn. Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
