North Adams - Western Gateway Heritage State Park announces its special events

If you're looking for something to do with your family the Western Gateway Heritage State Park has a few options. Join us July 29th, August 11th and 25th at 9-10 or 9-10:30am for Water Walks. We are walking along the Hoosic River and we are hiking the short trails to Peck's Falls and Cascades. Join us July 30th, August 12th and August 26th at 2-3pm for Sundae Sunday. Come cool off and enjoy an ice cream sundae on Sunday! Sundae materials will be provided. We do ask for $2.00 for supplies. Also, join us for a Hoosac Tunnel History tour at 3:30-4:30pm on August 12th and 26th. Come watch a movie about the construction of the Hoosac Tunnel and then take a tour of the Visitor's Center. Western Gateway Heritage State Park Visitors Center is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. The park is located off Route 8 between State St. and Furnace St. in North Adams. Mystic Schooners Down North Adams

MYSTIC, Conn. -- Jamie Zee went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs Thursday to lead the Schooners to a 12-6 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
 
Chris Diaz went 3-for-4 with a double to lead North Adams' offense.
 
The SteepleCats (1-10) host Bristol, R.I., on Friday at 6:30 at Joe Wolfe Field.
