Integral Philosphy Expert to Speak in Lenox
LENOX – Author, attorney, CEO and integral expert Steve McIntosh will speak on "The Rise of an Integral Worldview" on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. at the EnlightenNext Center.McIntosh is a founding member of Ken Wilber's Integral Institute think tank and sole founder of The Project for Integral World Federation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultural evolution.
In his newly released book, "Integral Consciousness and the Future of Evolution: How the Integral Worldview Is Transforming Politics, Culture and Spirituality" (Paragon House 2007), McIntosh argues that a new, historically significant "level" of consciousness and culture is emerging in our time that is, in many ways, the evolutionary equivalent of the emergence of the modernist worldview of the Enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries. And just as the rise of modernism changed the world forever, McIntosh asserts that the integral worldview represents the next crucial step in the development of our civilization.
"The emerging perspective known as integral consciousness provides realistic and pragmatic solutions to our growing global problems," McIntosh said. "And through its enlarged understanding of the evolution of consciousness and culture, the integral worldview’s transformational potential provides a way to literally become the change we want to see in the world."
McIntosh will give an introduction to integral philosophy and discuss its power to shape evolution and the immediate future of our civilization. He also will speak about his own work with integral philosophy in politics and spirituality and its potential to catalyze significant change. The talk will include a question-and-answer session and will be followed by a reception and book signing with McIntosh.
The EnlightenNext Center is located at the Foxhollow Estate, Route 7. Tickets are $12, students/$8. For information and reservations call 800-376-3210 or EnlightenNext.org/McIntosh.
