MCLA women's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference win
NORTH ADAMS, Mass - Junior Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) tallied two goals to lead the MCLA women's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference win over visiting Lyndon State College. After a disappointing match this past weekend, the Trailblazers were able to get back on the winning track. After a few wonderful opportunities MCLA finally struck with their first goal of the game. Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) attacked down the flank, cut back, and found Prickett on the opposite side of the box for the eventual game winner.
The Trailblazers out shot their visitors by a 19 to 3 margin keeping Lyndon goalkeeper Natalia Shams (Swampscott, MA) very busy. It wasn't until the second half that MCLA was able to add to their lead. In the 51st minute Tietgens collected an errant pass and capitalized on her defensive efforts when she toe-poked a shot low past Shams for her 24th goal of the season. The next 16 minutes were rather quiet with MCLA missing the next on a few occasions. Then Harmony McGorman (Orleans, MA) carried the ball up the middle cutting between two Hornet defenders and dropped the ball off to her left where Prickett made the most of her opportunity collecting her second goal of the game and the sixth of the season.
MCLA improves to 12-4 overall and will play host to conference rival Fitchburg State 1:00 on Saturday. MCLA will also honor their women soccer seniors and parents as part of Saturday's events. Lyndon State falls to 7-8-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Green Mountain College
