MCLA Sports InfoPrint Story | Email Story
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Trailblazers opened up the scoring but that would be the only lead they would have on the afternoon. Fitchburg State, second in the MASCAC, overpowered MCLA in the first half forcing 22 turnovers and took a 23-point (47-26) lead into the break. Kari Averill (Barre, VT) lead all scoring with 13 in the first half for the Falcons.

In the second half the Trailblazers would cut their turnovers to six, but it wasn't enough to close the gap that grew as high as 27 points and as close as 14 points. First years, Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) and Ali Dobrovolc (Little Falls, NY) paced MCLA in the second half. Wehner scored 15 of her 19 points (game high) and Dobrovolc added 12 of her 16 points in the half. It just wasn't enough as the Falcons had five players finish in double figures. Kelley Rogers (Lowell, MA) and Steph Payette (Townsend, MA) both had 17, Amandra Purcell (Hudson, NH) added 13, Averill 15, and Melissa Proffitt (Hubbardston, MA) finished with 11 of her own.

GAME NOTES:

Seventh double-double (19-15) for Wehner

MCLA out-rebounded the Falcons by 17 - the Trailblazers have only been out-rebounded twice this season

Wehner and Laura Silverman (Ballston Lake, NY) continue to lead the MASCAC in individual rebounding adding 15 and 14 respectively to their totals
