Bissaillon has been employed since 1992 with Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan & Collins Insurance Agency in North Adams, most recently as assistant vice president of marketing. There he managed a client base of more than 250 Berkshire County businesses through sales and service activities. As a member and past president of the Board of Directors for the former Northern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, Bissaillon played a major role in the merger between that organization and the former Chamber of Commerce of the Berkshires resulting in the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, now one of the largest chambers in the state of Massachusetts. He also served on the board of the former Adams Chamber of Commerce.
He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Berkshire Visitors Bureau where he serves on the membership committee. In addition, Bissaillon is the chairman of the board of directors of the town of Adams Downtown Development Committee and serves on the Red Feather fund-raising committee for the Northern Berkshire United Way. His former affiliations include those of corporator for Northern Berkshire Health Systems and South Adams Savings Bank; the Traffic Commission for the town of Adams; an officer on the Board of Directors of the Berkshire County Independent Insurance Agent’s Association; and an officer of the Adams Lodge of Elks.
“We are delighted to have David as our next president and CEO. His extensive background in the arena of economic development, coupled with his consensus-building skills and capabilities, will be critical as the Chamber continues to make a significant impact on the Berkshires’ future,†said Tyler Fairbank, chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
Incoming Chamber Board Chair and Chair of the Search Committee David Kalib said, “This was a nationwide search that yielded many qualified candidates from across the country and we felt David Bissaillon represented the cream of the crop.†He added, “His connections within the Berkshires will help the Chamber forge a regional identity, from North to South, thereby continuing the momentum that was begun by his predecessor.â€
“I am honored and excited to have been chosen as the next president and CEO of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce. I can’t think of a more challenging opportunity to be undertaking at this point in my career, than to be leading the effort to continue promoting the Berkshires as one single marketplace,†said Bissaillon.
He continued, “For the last nine years, I have had the privilege of working for one of the finest companies in the Berkshires where Chamber involvement was always encouraged.†Bissaillon added, “Having been on the Board of Directors since the merger, I have witnessed the talent, passion and commitment of the professionals involved in this Chamber and I am delighted to be leading this dynamic organization.â€
