The Monument Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 33 new members in a candlelight ceremony on Sunday evening, November 4 in the Kathleen E. McDermott Auditorium.
The candlelight ceremony was conducted by National Honor Society members Jocelyn Kirsch, Brian Jeffery, Jocelyn Levitan, Leigh Rosenfeld and Tony Smith. Mr. Tom Kinne a guidance counselor at Monument Mountain was the guest speaker for the evening.
New senior inductees were Jessica Candee, Kelly Creighton and Jessica Hansen. Junior inductees included: Sage Atwood, Jessica Bachman, Julia Barry, Danielle Boudreau, Janna Chapdelaine, Nikole Delair, Stephanie Dolson, Mikaela Ebitz, Melinda Galisa, Liza Gennari, Katherine Goldfarb, Jillian Hall, Caitlin Harrigan, Edward Hornick, Erik Jensen, Susanne Johnson, Megan Jones, Taylor Lamme, Jessica Lamont, Michael Lesniak, Emily Mareb, Noah Parons, Katelyn Paulson, Andrea Russell, Ashley Seiger, Caren Seward, Alison Shepardson, Anna Smith, Tiffany St. John and Sarah Young.
Also involved with the ceremony were all current members of the Monument Mountain Chapter of the National Honor Society: Jenny Berbieri, Brian Cardillo, Emily Coates, Kelly Coons, Elizabeth Davidson, Nora Dongala, Jessie Drew, Daniel Elitzer, Kristin Geldert, Keith Godburn, Allison Graham, Abigail Gray, Kristin Kruszyna, Lily Laux, Jennifer Martin, Margaux Morrison, Lynn Patterson, Theodore Pryjma, Zachary Rolf, Emily Sabo, Tony Smith, Lindsey Steinberg, Kathryn Utenis and Pia Watson
A reception for members and families was held in the cafeteria following the ceremony.

North Adams Double Murder Case Continued to March

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The case of a city man charged with killing his parents was continued to March on Monday.
Darius Hazard, 44, was scheduled for a detention hearing on Monday in Northern Berkshire District Court.
Prior to the start of the court's business, the clerk announced that Hazard's case was continued to Monday, March 2.
Hazard is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson in connection with the Nov. 24 fire that claimed the lives of Donald Hazard, 83, and Venture Hazard, 76.
Police say Hazard confessed to the killings and starting the fire and fled the Francis Street home where he lived with his parents.
