Stockbridge Sinfonia To Present Classical Concerts
STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. - The Stockbridge Sinfonia, under the baton of its music director, Simeon Loring, will present “A Program of Classical Music” Saturday August 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Norman Rockwell Museum, Route 183, Stockbridge, and Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 6:00 pm in the Koussevitzky Art Center at Berkshire Community College, 1350 West Street, Pittsfield.A reception and silent auction will follow the August 23rd concert.
The program for both concerts will include Sibelius”s Finlandia and Valse triste, Cimarosa’s Conerto for Two Flutes in G Major, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet, Strauss’s Perpetuum mobile, and Wagner’s Overture to Rienzi.
The Sinfonia conductor emeritus, Leonard Marcus will conduct Finlandia. Soloist of the Weber piece is Donald Whellan. Flute soloist in the Cimarosa are Steve Wheelock and Emily Wespiser.
