Friday-Sunday: Last Chance to see Somewhere in Between!

The Town Players of Pittsfield present Somewhere in Between, a comedy by Craig Pospisil. The story revolves around Jasper and his quest to solve life's uncertainties. He moves through a frustrating job, bad advice and awkwardness with women to an epiphany at the hands of a homeless man. Patrick's Pub and Spice Dragon will offer a 10% discount to all people presenting a ticket to the show on the day of that performance (includes food but not alcohol.) Contains adult situations & language.

Friday: Brett Eldredge at BCC

Berkshire Community College presents country music sensation Brett Eldredge. Recently nominated for American Country Awards Music Video's New Artist award, Eldredge will perform hits like "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" and "Raymond." Friday: 10 Year Retrospective of Paintings by Tracy Levesque at Y Bar

Y Bar presents an art exhibit by Berkshire native Tracy Levesque, featuring a collection of her oil and acrylic paintings from the last 10 years. There will be many never-before-seen works, including a vast selection of botanicals, landscapes and portraits. There will be an opening reception on Friday, March 30 beginning at 6pm. All work will be for sale and this event is free and open to the public.

Friday: Slice of Life Pizza Competition

The Crowne Plaza hosts the 2nd Annual Slice of Life, a friendly pizza tasting competition to benefit Moments House. Awards will go to Best Overall, Best Sauce, Best Crust and Most UniqueMusical entertainment will be provided by Dennis Wixson of Bob Heck Entertainment. There will be raffles, a cash bar, dancing and, of course, all the pizza you can eat! Moments House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping support families dealing with cancer.

Friday: Planetary Nights & Deafened By Love

Saturday: Ahmad Jamal at The Colonial

The Colonial Theatre presents Ahmad Jamal, a true-blue American jazz master and musical legend with six decades of musical validity and counting under his belt. A member of the Downbeat Hall of Fame, hailed by Time magazine, and a favorite of jazz legend Miles Davis, acclaimed jazz pianist and Berkshire resident Jamal will be celebrating the release of his new CD, Blue Moon.

Sunday: Baby Animals at the Berkshire Museum

The Berkshire Museum, in collaboration with Hancock Shaker Village, is giving a preview of the Baby Animals on Shaker Farm event beginning next Saturday. An incubator has been at the Museum since early March and the baby chicks are ready to hatch. Watch the chicks take their first steps and peeps and enjoy a lamb that will be visiting from 1pm-2 p.m Sunday. In honor of Berkshire Museum's 109th birthday, visitors can participate in art activities for kids, free with Museum admission.

Sunday: HuDost at Mission Bar + Tapas

Mission Bar + Tapas presents HuDost, an experimental indie world rock group that pulls together musical styles as diverse as the jellies in Marco Polo's kitchen cupboard, weaving a seamless tapestry of sound. Mondays: Hip Hop Classes at the Lichtenstein!

The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts hosts a new series of hip hop dance classes, taught by Josh "Butta” McHugh (pictured left). McHugh received a scholarship for Jacob's Pillow with Rennie Harris in the summer of 2009 and has taught classes at Albany Berkshire Ballet, Taconic High School and Bebe Theater in Asheville, N.C. Classes feature  breakdancing, popping, locking, house and freestyle dance & each class includes a demo, lessons on stretching, choreography and an open dance. They are open to anyone ages 8 and up, child or adult.

Wednesday: Rediscover Longfellow

EPOCH Assisted Living at Melbourne Place presents Rediscover Longfellow, a presentation by Bruce Southard. Southard dives into the life, art and writings of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the respected 19th-century American poet, using the life and poems of Longfellow to trace a timeline of his life and interactions with other famous authors of the period, such as Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Thursday: Sparkplug Returns to the Garage!

The Garage presents New England-based jazz, funk, & boogaloo band Sparkplug, with guest Scott Murawski, in the lobby of The Colonial Theatre. Organist Beau Sasser and drummer Bill Carbone spent several years as 2/3s of the late legendary soul-jazz guitarist Melvin Sparks' trio. Check out THIS video taken from Sparkplug's last show at The Garage!

BVNA Nurses Raise Funds for Berkshire Bounty

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Massachusetts Nursing Association members of the Berkshire Visiting Nurses Association raised $650 to help with food insecurity in Berkshire County.
 
The nurses and health-care professionals of BVNA have given back to the community every holiday season for the last three years. The first year, they adopted a large family, raised money, bought, wrapped and delivered the gifts for the family. Last year, they sold raffle tickets and the money raised went to the charitable cause of the winner. 
 
This year, with food insecurity as a rising issue, they chose to give to Berkshire Bounty in Great Barrington.
 
They sold raffle tickets for a drawing to win one of two items: A lottery ticket tree or a gift certificate tree, each worth $100. They will be giving the organization the donation this month.
 
Berkshire Bounty seeks to improve food security in the county through food donations from retailers and local farms; supplemental purchases of healthy foods; distribution to food sites and home deliveries; and collaborating with partners to address emergencies and improve the food system.
