Southern Berkshire Early Education Sets Open Houses

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Southern Berkshire Regional School District is hosting open houses for prekindergarten, early kindergarten and kindergarten programs in its four elementary locations prior to registration.

The open houses by date are:

Undermountain
Early kindergarten and kindergarten on Thursday, March 7, for live classroom experience from 1 to 2 and 5 to 6 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, tour classrooms and ask questions.

South Egremont
Kindergarten and Grade 1 on Friday, March 8, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Information: 413-528-1430

Monterey
Early kindergarten and kindergarten on Saturday, March 9, from 10:00-11:30 a.m.


New Marlborough Central
Prekindergarten, early kindergarten and kindergarten on Tuesday, March 12, at 1 p.m.
 
Registration for the kindergarten and prekindergarten programs will take place on Tuesday, March 19.

Parents of children living in Sheffield, Egremont, Alford and Ashley Falls may register at Undermountain Elementary School. Parents of children living in Monterey and New Marlborough may register at New Marlborough Central School. Hours of registration at both schools are from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Parents are asked to bring the following with them to registration: birth certificate, report of physical examination, dates of immunizations (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, Hepatitis B, chicken pox), and a certificate of immunization and proof of residency.

Children who will turn 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2013, are eligible to enroll for kindergarten; children who will turn 5 years of age between Sept. 2 and Dec. 31, 2013 are eligible for the early kindergarten program.

Southern Berkshire Regional School District participates in the school choice program. Parents of children residing outside of the district who are interested in having their children attend school at Undermountain, South Egremont, Monterey or New Marlborough schools should contact the elementary principal's office at 413-229-8754, Ext. 377.
