PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mayor Daniel Bianchi, in cooperation with the Office of Cultural Development and the Pittsfield Tourism Commission, have announced that the Pittsfield Visitors Center is open for the season at the Berkshire Regional Transportation Authority's Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center, located at One Columbus Ave.
The center is the transportation hub of the Berkshires, offering train, bus and taxi service, and is also a satellite site for Berkshire Community College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The visitors center is in a highly visible storefront at the Intermodal Center, just steps away from North Street. This is the second season for this location.
"The Visitors Center is an excellent resource in Pittsfield," said Bianchi. "Its location at the Intermodal Center is well positioned to welcome visitors as they come into Pittsfield, whether that is by car, bus, train or walking down North Street. Improved signage directing people to the Visitors Center should increase its utilization this year.
"Tourism is vital to our economy. I encourage people to see the Visitors Center. It clearly displays all we have to offer people who come and visit Pittsfield."
The Visitors Center will continue to be staffed by Retired Senior Volunteer Program volunteers, who have been the mainstay of Pittsfield's visitor outreach for decades. Those interested in volunteering at the Pittsfield Visitors Center should contact RSVP at 413-395-0107.
The Pittsfield Visitors Center will be open through Columbus Day weekend, Monday-Saturday 10 to 4. For more information about the center and providing brochures and other promotional material for display, contact the Office of Cultural Development at 413-499-9348.
