O’Geary’s Package Store To Double In Size

ADAMS, Mass. – O'Geary's Package Store has received approval to more than double in size.
The owner of the 58-60 Commercial St. property, James Geary, presented his site plan to the Planning Board on Monday night
He said the business needs to expand and the addition would bring the package store's square footage from 1,139 to 2,412 square feet.
"We are just so tiny here, and we need the space," Geary said.
He said the addition will allow for a larger selection of beer, wine and liquor and the existing building will be used strictly for deliveries and possibly wine tastings.
"A lot of this is just ideas of what we are going to do," he said. "It is not going to be retail space though."
The construction will call for the elimination of one curb cut and the demolition of the used car office on the property. The redemption center will remain.
Geary said the plans state that the new storefront will be made out of heavy timber, but he may change this to a more industrial look.
Vice Chairwoman Sandra Moderski advocated for the heavy timber storefront and said the renovations will be a great improvement.
"I think you are on the Route 8 corridor, and I think this is going to be a great improvement," Moderski said. "You are going to have some nice plantings in front, take away some of the impervious surfaces, and I think a nice front will be wonderful as opposed to something more commercial."
Geary said he was open to suggestions and promised the store will look better.
"Whatever it is, the idea is to make it more welcoming," Geary said.
