Photos: Great Barrington River Walk highlights the Housatonic

Print Story | Email Story
The River Walk, a project of the Great Barrington Land Conservancy, is a beautiful trail that follows the Housatonic River. Once abused and neglected land, the greenway is now 2,100 feet long and debris free thanks to volunteer efforts underway since 1988. The River Walk, which opened in 1992, is the first river trail on the Housatonic. It spans from the Cottage street to Bridge Street in Great Barrington. Advocates hope that, with support from the community, the trail will eventually reach The Senior Center. One can enter the River Walk by Main Street next to Riverbank House, or on Bridge street near Searles Middle School.
