ADAMS, Mass. — Shana Snow has fond memories of visiting Jeepers Creepers as a child. Now she's taken over the curiosity shop hoping to keep the longtime business running and expand on its offerings. 

 

"I remember coming in here when I was a kid in the summer and buying some candy and playing with the little gag gifts," Snow said. "It was just a lot of fun and I wanted this place to still be open ... it is a small town and it is nice to have different places to shop."

 

The new owner said when the opportunity arose to take over the Hoosac Street business she couldn't let it pass up. 

 

"I started just looking for a storefront for my jewelry and I came here," Snow said. "Michelle [Biros] said she was possibly closing and said it was really a turnkey business and I wanted to keep this going."

 

Biros ran the store for 22 years before deciding to make a change late last year. Snow said she wants to keep the essence of Jeepers Creepers alive.

 

"Michelle has been here for so long and I want to keep that spirit alive," she said. "I am going to keep the balloons, party supplies, and gag gifts."

 

She said she does plan to "refresh" the store with new shelves and arrangements and will sell NFL paraphernalia as well as jewelry and lots of candy.

 

"I am going to get one of those fill-your-own candy bag setups," she said. "There are a lot of things in the works."

 

Snow said she also plans to take on the storefront next door as a workshop for her jewelry sales for the time being. The store had a soft opening in February with the name Jeepers Creepers/Rad Razzies. Her grand opening had to be put off a couple of times because of unforeseen circumstances but on Saturday afternoon, town officials, family and friends were on hand to watch her cut the red ribbon. 

 

People seem to be happy that she is continuing Biros' legacy, she said.

 

"A lot of people said they were glad that it stayed open because so many local businesses have closed recently," Snow said. "They are glad we are keeping the legend alive."
