Independent candidate for the 4th Berkshire District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, Tom Stokes, is keeping a close eye on developments in the Clean Elections news.
To date, the current legislators' refusal to fund the Clean Elections Law has prompted Tom Stokes and other candidates to think about campaigning the old fashioned way.
Stokes, a former Berkshire County Commissioner, would rather not but during an interview on WUHN's award-winning talk show, Up-Front, he said he might not have a choice. Stokes said people keep asking him what he'll do if the state doesn't come across with Clean Elections money. He said if the state reneges on Clean Elections money, he may just have to resort to raising money the old fashioned way but would put a $100 cap on campaign contributions.
Stokes would not speculate if the state would eventually distribute Clean Elections money in the months ahead.
