PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Miss Hall’s School has announced that varsity basketball player Angela Guachione, a senior from Pittsfield, was named a New England Preparatory School Athletic Council All-Star for the recently completed season.

The daughter of Debra and Glenn Guachione, she was a four-year member of the MHS varsity basketball team and served this year as one of the team’s captains. For the 2019-20 season, she averaged 10.1 points, 6.2 assists, 5.01 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game, playing primarily the point guard’s position.

“Ang is an irreplaceable player on the Miss Hall’s basketball team,” basketball coach and athletic director Brad Horth said. “She plays with great energy and often plays much bigger than her stature. She is tenacious on the defensive end and often finds herself grabbing rebounds that seem impossible for someone her size. On offense, she runs the show, and has a good handle and great grasp of the offense.”

A Head’s List student, Ang is also a four-year varsity lacrosse standout for the Hurricanes and served last year as head of the school’s Athletic Association.

BVNA Nurses Raise Funds for Berkshire Bounty

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Massachusetts Nursing Association members of the Berkshire Visiting Nurses Association raised $650 to help with food insecurity in Berkshire County.

The nurses and health-care professionals of BVNA have given back to the community every holiday season for the last three years. The first year, they adopted a large family, raised money, bought, wrapped and delivered the gifts for the family. Last year, they sold raffle tickets and the money raised went to the charitable cause of the winner.

This year, with food insecurity as a rising issue, they chose to give to Berkshire Bounty in Great Barrington.

They sold raffle tickets for a drawing to win one of two items: A lottery ticket tree or a gift certificate tree, each worth $100. They will be giving the organization the donation this month.

Berkshire Bounty seeks to improve food security in the county through food donations from retailers and local farms; supplemental purchases of healthy foods; distribution to food sites and home deliveries; and collaborating with partners to address emergencies and improve the food system.
