Body Found in Becket Woods by Campers
BECKET, Mass. — A body was found in the woods Thursday afternoon by teen campers staying at Camp Lenox.
The State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office responded to a wooded area in Becket after individuals discovered the human remains in the state of decomposition, according DA spokesman Andrew McKeever.
News10 reported three 16-year old campers and a counselor from Camp Lenox found the body outside of the boundaries of the sports camp. The remains reportedly indicated that the death happened "quite a while ago," according to the TV report.
The finding was confirmed by the DA's office on Friday afternoon.
McKeever said detectives are investigating the death and the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the body.
The investigation is ongoing.
