MCLA Men's, Women's Basketball Win

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Zaylee Ramos scored 21 points Wednesday to lead the MCLA women's basketball team to a 66-53 win over Fitchburg State as the Trailblazers earned their first MASCAC win of the season.
 
Hailey Peabody had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for MCLA (4-6, 1-7), which goes to Framingham State next Wednesday.
 
Men's Basketball
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- JoJo Garcia scored 14 points to lead MCLA to a 66-64 win over Fitchburg State.
 
Drury graduate Reece Racette had nine rebounds, four steals and three assists to go with six points for the Trailblazers.
 
MCLA (7-11, 3-5) goes to Albany College of Pharmacy on Saturday.

North Adams Double Murder Case Continued to March

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The case of a city man charged with killing his parents was continued to March on Monday.
 
Darius Hazard, 44, was scheduled for a detention hearing on Monday in Northern Berkshire District Court.
 
Prior to the start of the court's business, the clerk announced that Hazard's case was continued to Monday, March 2.
 
Hazard is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson in connection with the Nov. 24 fire that claimed the lives of Donald Hazard, 83, and Venture Hazard, 76.
 
Police say Hazard confessed to the killings and starting the fire and fled the Francis Street home where he lived with his parents.
