PHS and Shakespeare & Company Announce Collaborative 'Hamlet' Production

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield High School’s Proteus, in collaboration with Shakespeare & Company, has announced a joint production of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, "Hamlet."

The production features a student-led creative team, including directors Darius Journigan and Naire Poole, costume designer Michelle Hathaway, and production designer Alec Westmoreland.

The show is scheduled for a limited run of three performances across two locations. The Pittsfield High School venue will host performances on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m in its auditorium. Tickets for the PHS performances are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets for the school's performance are here.

A final performance is slated for the Shakespeare & Company campus in Lenox, Massachusetts, on Friday, Nov. 21, at 8:30 pm. Tickets range from $8 to $20 and can be found here.

Police Seeking Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run on Tuesday.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found nearly four miles away from where he was reportedly struck.

The initial report was that someone was in the road, possibly struck by a motor vehicle, at the intersection of Linden Street and Francis Avenue at about 11:33 p.m.

According to the report filed by Sgt. David Hallas, officers were unable to locate either a victim or a vehicle at the intersection. They spoke with witnesses and canvassed the area.

They were found him in the road in the 1350 block of West Housatonic Street near the Best Western hotel.

The victim was deceased.

The investigation is pointing to the victim being struck the Linden Street intersection and then trapped under the vehicle and dragged "to a final resting place" on West Housatonic.
