GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.—Alternative rock band Better Than Ezra will appear at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m.

According to a press release:

Some songs, albums, and live performances are simply timeless. Since their early roots in 1988, playing house parties at Louisiana State University, Better Than Ezra have carved out a lasting place in modern rock. The New Orleans quartet, founded by Kevin Griffin (lead vocals, guitar, piano) and Tom Drummond (bass, backing vocals), became known for their instantly hummable melodies, unshakable guitar riffs, and confessional lyrics that continue to resonate across generations.

From their 1995 number one hit "Good" to Taylor Swift's 2010 cover of the Better Than Ezra classic "Breathless," the band's influence has remained undeniable. In 2025, Better Than Ezra celebrated 30 years of their breakthrough debut album Deluxe with a sold-out hometown show at the Fillmore New Orleans, a full-circle moment honoring the record that helped define alternative rock in the '90s, including songs like "Good," "In the Blood," and "Rosealia."

Named one of Billboard's "100 Greatest Alternative Artists of All Time," and with a legacy that even includes inspiring a classic Saturday Night Live sketch, Better Than Ezra spent 2024 releasing their tenth studio album, Super Magick, and headlining both the Live A Little Tour and Legends of the Fall: Tokyo Drift Tour, proving once again that their music and live shows remain as vital as ever.

Connecticut Man Killed in Otis Tractor-Trailer Crash

OTIS, Mass. — Thursday's collision between two tractor-trailers on Route 8 killed one of the drivers.

Antonio Luis Marcucci, 32 of Waterbury, Conn., was northbound at about 9 a.m. Thursday when he apparently lost control of the truck and veered into the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a southbound tractor trailer, according to police.

According to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, police dispatched to 1322 South Main Road found the truck with Connecticut plates in the northbound lane and a truck bearing Oklahoma plates lodged in a snowback on south side.

The officer began rendering aid to the northbound driver, identified as Marcucci. He was pinned inside the cab of his truck. He was extracated and transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield by Otis EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Oklahoma tractor trailer in the southbound lane did not receive serious injuries.

Early investigation, including dash camera footage captured by one of the tractor trailers, shows the Oklahoma tractor trailer was traveling in the southbound lane and the Connecticut tractor trailer was traveling in the northbound lane, according to the DA's Office. The Connecticut tractor trailer lost control veering off the other side of the road ultimately ending on the southbound lane. Shortly after the two tractor trailers collided in a head on collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
