Pittsfield to Host Hiring Event for the Department of Public Services and Utilities
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield, in partnership with MassHire Berkshire Career Center, will be hosting a hiring event for the city's Department of Public Services and Utilities on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, 70 Allen Street in Pittsfield.
According to a press release:
Pittsfield relies on the Public Services and Utilities team every single day to keep water clean, roads safe, infrastructure running, and more. Right now, the city has critical openings that need to be filled by dedicated people who want to make a direct, visible difference in their community. This event is designed to welcome local and diverse talent into public service, creating pathways for people at every stage of their careers to make a positive impact.
"Public service careers offer stability, growth, and the chance to serve your neighbors. We're excited to welcome new talent to our team - especially those who may not have imagined themselves in these roles before," said Director of Human Resources, Michael Taylor.
Individuals experienced in maintenance, utilities, skilled trades, operations, or public works are encouraged to attend to learn more about vacant positions, available benefits, the application process and more.

- Chief Treatment Plant Operator
- Highway Maintenance Craftsperson-CDL A or B
- Motor Equipment Repair Person
- Treatment Plant Operator-Wastewater
- Water and Sewer Maintenance Person
- Water Machinery Repair Person
"With settled union contracts and more competitive wages now in place, we're excited to bring on new members to our Public Works team," said Commissioner of Public Services and Utilities, Ricardo Morales. "This event is a great opportunity to learn about meaningful and rewarding careers available in public works."
