PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Cheyanne Goddard and Maddie Harrington sparked the Taconic Thunder’s offense on the way to an 18-2 win over Mount Greylock on Thursday.

Goddard also struck out two while only letting up five hits in five innings.

“Our bats came alive today in the past few games we struggled with, we threw strikes and our defense was on point today,” Goddard said.

The relentless bats of the Thunder started very early in the game.

Taconic ended the first inning up by 12 runs.

The Thunder’s defense came to show on Thursday, finishing with zero errors and making many plays to save runners from scoring.

Mount Greylock had struggles both defensively and pitching.

It used three pitchers in the first three innings, and the Mounties allowed 13 hits on 11 total walks.

The weather had an effect on both batteries, causing wild pitches and passed balls frequently.

Kelsey MacHaffie and Audrianna Pelkey provided Mounties’ only run production, each recording an RBI late in the game.

The Thunder scored first and did not take their foot off the gas throughout the rest of the ball game.

Taconic improves its record to 2-2, next facing Agawam at home on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Mounties move to 1-2 and host Pittsfield on Friday.
