The MCLA physics department will host Dr. Julianne Pollard-Larkin Thursday in CSI 121, with a reception preceding the talk at 4pm in the CSI Atrium. Dr. Pollard-Larkin is a Full Professor of Medical Physics and Service Chief of Thoracic Radiation Physics at MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation's top-ranked cancer centers.   Her talk will weave together cutting-edge research in cancer treatment with her personal journey in science. She will highlight innovations like FLASH ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy and share how her identity, heritage, and upbringing have fueled her career.    This talk is free and open to the public. Local artist and author Gail Gelburd will discuss her biographical fiction novel inspired by the rediscovered letters and archives of the adventurous 20th-century figure Sue Moody. The presentation explores Moody’s extraordinary life, from hitchhiking across America to surviving the outbreak of WWII in Paris as an aspiring journalist. The Berkshire Bach Society presents a rare performance of J.S. Bach’s earliest surviving passion at the First Congregational Church, conducted by James Bagwell and featuring the Berkshire Bach Ensemble.
