Kathryn E. Wood, 97

ADAMS, Mass. — Kathryn E. Wood, 97, of 9 Kittler Ave., died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 6, 2016, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Sept. 23, 1918, a daughter of Clarence and Alice Fiet Church, she attended schools there, graduating from Hoosick Falls High School. She then earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Houghton College in Caneadea, N.Y. She had lived in Adams since 1958.
Mrs. Wood was employed as a mathematician for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams until her retirement. She first worked as a math teacher in the Pownal, Vt., school system and later part time for several years for the Green Thumb Program in Williamstown.
She was a member of First Congregational Church. She enjoyed watching several television programs, including "Wheel of Fortune," "Jeopardy" and "Antiques Roadshow," and was a true optimist.
Her husband, Ralph J. Wood, whom she married on May 26, 1958, died in 1979.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Wood and his wife, Laurie, of Cheshire; four grandchildren, Joseph Wood and his wife, Emma, of South Dartmouth, Michael Wood and his companion, Libby Derosia, and Carin DeGrenier and her husband, Chad, all of Clarksburg, and Colleen Johnson and her husband, Dan, of North Adams; seven great-grandchildren, Nola, Allison, Jordan, Lindsey, Audrey, Brianna and Evan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a stepson, Ronald Wood, and by two brothers, Earl and Chester Church.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, at noon from Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. The Rev. Michael Mullany, pastor of First Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10 until the service, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
