Carmela Ambrose, 81, of 36 George St. died yesterday at Berkshire Place, where she was admitted in November. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 12, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Rose Santillo Ambrose, she graduated from St. Joseph's High School and from the former Berkshire Business College. Miss Ambrose was employed by GE as a secretary for several years. She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church. She leaves a sister, Frances Menin of Pittsfield. Miss Carmela Ambrose, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001. Beloved Sister of Frances Menin, and Dear Aunt of Elaina Ginsberg of Pittsford, N.Y., Paul Menin of Ashley Falls, Gary Menin of Sterling, Joseph Ambrose of Easton, Conn., David Ambrose of Monroe, Conn. Additional survivors include several grandnieces and -nephews. Predeceased by a brother, Dr. Paul Ambrose. The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 6, at 8:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. John Ford, CSS. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, Jan. 5, from 4 to 6. Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Carmel Church Organ Fund in care of the funeral home.
