Beverly Schwartzman

Mrs. Beverly Schwartzman, 76, of South Undermountain Road, Route 41, Sheffield, died Sunday evening, January 7, 2000 at home following a long illness. Born April 18, 1925 in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of lsadore and Eva Slavitt Frankenstein. She graduated from the Parsons School of Design, now a part of the New School University. A fashion designer and artist, primarily based in New York until 1971, she and her husband opened Twin Fire Antiques in Sheffield in 1974. The couple traveled to Europe often, collecting antiques and visiting the countries and museums of the rest of the world. She married Joseph Schwartzman in 1973 in New York City. Her greatest love was painting and her family. Besides her husband of twenty eight years, she is survived by two daughters; Sabrina Salzman of San Carlos, CA and Leslie Alfin of Morristown, NJ two step daughters: Julie Schwartzman of Brooklyn. NY and Madeline Schwartzman of New York, NY three grandchildren; Zoey, Jake and Sydney Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday morning, January 10, 2001 at eleven a.m. at the Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home, Great Barrington by Rabbi Harold Salzmann. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. Contributions in Mrs. Schwartzman’s memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
