Gladys K. Youngerman

Gladys K. Youngerman, 86, of 235 Walker St., Kimball Farms, died Tuesday at home. Born in Newark, N.J., on Oct. 26, 1914, daughter of David and Molly Kins, she attended schools in Allentown, Pa., and was a 1936 graduate of Cedar Crest College in Allentown, where she received her bachelor of arts degree. She had resided in Larchmont, N.Y., from 1949 until moving to Lenox in 1995. Mrs. Youngerman was an English teacher in the Allentown school system for several years. She was also a better dress and sportswear buyer for a chain of family-owned department stores, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed the arts, gardening, boating and playing bridge. Her husband of 45 years, Arnold Youngerman, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Arne J. Youngerman of Lenox and James Youngerman of Stockbridge; a brother, Richard Kins of New York City; a sister, Barbara Margolis of Allentown, and five grandchildren. Gladys Kins Youngerman is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Kira, Eric, Molly, Connor and Hannah Youngerman. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Camp Hill Village in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements.
