Edward J. Zoltek

Edward J. "Sharkey" Zoltek, 81, of 12 Hoosac St. died yesterday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Wednesday. Born in Adams on May 18, 1920, son of John and Sophie Dominik Zoltek, he attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and graduated from the former Adams High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 769th Ordnance Company in the European theater. Mr. Zoltek was employed with the Waverly Fabrics division of F. Schumacher Co., retiring in 1983. Prior to that, he had employed for many years with the former Arnold Print Works. A communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church, he was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, the Forest Park Country Club and the Senior Bowling League. He leaves his wife, the former Victoria J. Kopec, whom he married July 13, 1946; a son, James J. Zoltek of Adams, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Richard E. Zoltek, died in 1965. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Stanley Zoltek, and three sisters, Mildred Vokey, Adela Beckwith and Stacia Zoltek. The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or to the St. Stanislaus' Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
