Harry Weisberg

Harry Weisberg, 88, of 51 Saratoga Drive died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons, where he was admitted Wednesday. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 16, 1912, son of Isaac and Rachel Eastman Weisberg, he was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and the Jewish American War Veterans. He was also a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite. Mr. Weisberg and his brother, James Weisberg, owned and operated the former Weisberg Oil Co. for more than 45 years. He retired in 1975. He was a member of Ahavath Sholem Congregation and of its Cemetery Committee. His wife, the former Rose Garbowitz, whom he married March 2, 1941, died March 13, 1995. Besides his brother, of Pittsfield, he leaves four daughters, Maxine Stolzenberg of Clinton, Conn., and triplet daughters, Anne Pinsonneault of Pittsfield, Betty Bendoraitis of Newington, Conn., and Carol Torneo of Rocky Hill, Conn.; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Harry Weisberg, 88, of Pittsfield died Jan. 28, 2001. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME by Rabbi Harold I. Salzmann, rabbi emeritus. Burial will follow in Ahavath Sholem Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. A memorial period will be observed both Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the home of his daughter, Anne Pinsonneault, at 800 Barker Road, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Elder Services in care of the funeral home.
