Robert E. Goebel, 70

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Robert E. Goebel, 70 of Cheshire, passed away February 10, 2025 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Worcester, MA on December 11, 1954, he was the son of John and Laura Jones Goebel.

Robert joined The United States Navy by the age of 17, where he received his diploma and served during Vietnam. After leaving the navy in 1974 he became skilled in many jobs, where his passion for automobiles, bartering and farming began.

He married the former Irene Kathy Kinnas on June 19, 1982 where they soon moved to a farm in cheshire to begin their family. Throughout Bob's life he made many friends, often offering the shirt off his back to those he knew. He will also be remembered for his goofy personality, stories, and advice that made so many others smile. If there was a problem, Bob knew how to fix it or knew the person to send you to who could.

Bob was a homebody in his later years, focusing on family and home life. In 2016, Robert's grandchild, Erynne, was born who very quickly became the center of his world.

Bob will be missed by many and will be a person who will never be forgotten.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Irene Kathy Goebel of Cheshire. Their five children, John S. Goebel of Pittsfield, Rebecca P. Goebel of Cheshire, Danielle D. Goebel of Boston, Kaitlyn M. Goebel of Cheshire and Zack R. Goebel of Cheshire. Granddaughter, Erynne Hinckley and his siblings, John Goebel of Pittsfield, Laurie Danielles of Pittsfield and Pattie Peckham of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held, Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, 121 North State Rd, Cheshire, MA. There will be a celebration of life in the spring. Details to follow with the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to Soldier On in care of Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home, PO Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225.
