Clarise Rita Vanderburgh, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Clarise Rita (Lambert) Vanderburgh, 79, of North Adams died suddenly May 19, 2025 at Saratoga Hospital. She was born in North Adams on April 17, 1946 a daughter of the late Louis George Lambert & Irene Marie (Bouffard).
Clarise attended Drury High School and graduated with the class of 1964. She worked for many years as a teller at Berkshire Bank in North Adams. Clarise was the wife of the late Lyman “Sonny” Vanderburgh Jr who died in 2019. They were married on February 21, 1986. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching the birds outside her window, tending to her flowers, and spending time in her yard. Nothing made her happier than seeing her children whenever she could.
Later in life, she became an active part of the Living Hope Church, where she was welcomed with open arms and made many dear friends. We are so thankful for how the church embraced her and brought her into their loving community. She loved volunteering there and was always willing to lend a hand—whether it was helping with church events or supporting others in any way she could. One of the most special friendships she formed was with Mabel. The two of them shared a love for playing bingo and spent countless hours enjoying great conversation and laughter. Mabel became a treasured part of her life, and their friendship brought her much joy and companionship.
Clarise leaves her children, Shawn P. Johnson (Brendan) of Hatfield, MA, Kelley Torres (Milton) of Pittsfield, Daniel M. Johnson with whom she made her home, Shayne M. Johnson of North Adams and Debra King (Jeffrey) of Peterborough, NH. She also leaves her grandchildren, Steve Courtney (Pauline), Kimberly Courtney Smith (Charles), Brianna Johnson (Arthur), Evan Johnson, Audrey Johnson, Michael Johnson (Beth), Nicholas Johnson, Ainsley King, Aidan King, Kiernan King, Cassandra King and 8 great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Carole Lambert Superneau and brother George Lambert (Kathy) of Milford, PA. She was predeceased by a sister, Marielle Kordana.
