Patricia Chenail, 87

Patricia Jane (Wheelock) Chenail 87, of North Adams died Monday June 16, 2025 at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in Pittsfield on April 7, 1938 a daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Sampson) Wheelock.

Patricia attended schools in Cheshire and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield. She worked for Williams College in the building and grounds department for 32 years and also served as a bookkeeper at Le Country Restaurant as well as Chenail’s Farm. Patricia was a communicant of St’s. Patrick & Raphael Parish in Williamstown.

A devoted and faithful Catholic, she was also a proud member of the Breakfast Club and the Williams College Retirees Club. In the summers Pat enjoyed days spinning at Saratoga Race Track with friends and family. She loved knitting, traveling to Ireland (and enjoying her beloved Irish Coffee), and cheering on the Boston Red Sox — but above all, Patricia cherished her family.

She will be remembered for her kind and gentle heart, her strong work ethic, and the warmth she brought into every room. A passionate baker, Patricia was known far and wide for her delicious apple pies, and homemade chocolate chip cookies — baked goods that became symbols of love and comfort to all who tasted them. These were included in her May baskets.

Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren, whose company she treasured most. She lovingly watched over them after school, filling their afternoons with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her home was always a welcoming place for family dinners, coffee with friends, and heartfelt conversations around the table.

Patricia leaves behind her children Kathleen Chenail, Daniel Chenail, and Sandra Robinson (Kirk), all of North Adams. She also leaves her grandchildren Michele Hartman, Heather Hartman, Schuyler Robinson, and Brooks Robinson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Melvin Chenail, who died on January 2, 1973.
