Roger R Benvenuti, 86

ADAMS, Mass. — After a short illness, Roger R Benvenuti, 86, died on July 11, 2025 in Corona, California.

He was born in Adams, Massachusetts on September 10, 1938 to the late Raymond and Pearl (Daldoss) Benvenuti. Roger attended schools in Adams, graduating from Adams Memorial High School in 1956. He was a star athlete earning All Western Massachusetts honors in football and baseball and All American honors in football.

Roger graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a bachelor's degree in Forestry and from North Carolina State University with a master's degree in Wood Technology. After graduation he began a 36-year career in the chemical coatings industry with the Glidden Company, Evans Products Company, Reliance Universal and Akzo Nobel. He retired in January 2000 as the Industrial Coatings Manager of the Southwest U. S. for Akzo Nobel. 

During his years living in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Illinois, Oregon and California he was active in organizing and coaching youth sports. He was an avid golfer into his early 80s.

With his high school sweetheart and wife, the former Noella Guerin, he spent his retirement years traveling extensively exploring other cultures. Together they traveled to all seven continents and visited over 100 countries. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cared deeply about his family. He will be greatly missed.

Roger is survived by his wife, his daughter Lisa Benvenuti (Ruben), son Michael Benvenuti (Carrie), granddaughter Jenna Kilgore (Jesse), grandson Alex Lewis (Bailey) and five of six great grandchildren. A private Celebration of Life was held at the family home in Corona.

So sorry to hear of Rogers passing. Lived in the block on North summer Lester l stage and I were neighbors and Roger and his parents were good friends of his parents . I remember how we would sit out on the steps before the Adams Drury game and listen to Roger telling us who was a tough opponent and how much he loved playing football so many memories of life in the 50s my sincere condolences to all.

Dear Noella and family,
We send our sincerest sympathies and condolences to you at the loss of your dear husband, Father and Grandfather! Our memories of Roger on the football field go back to the 9th grade when he was our football hero! We were so proud of his appointment to West Point, however his longings for life’s fulfillments sent him to a different career which he loved! He kept our friendship going as he was among the few high school friends who reached out to us in great compassion and understanding in our time of crises at the tragic loss of our daughter Renee. He kept in touch with us for the past 50 years or so, exchanging Christmas cards with notes about your worldwide travels. We admired him so much and felt a sense of pride that he, a high school hero, would reach out to us! Roger has been an icon for us throughout the years and we have always looked forward to his telephone calls! We always felt a closeness to him, a bond that began way back on high school graduation night when we all went to Windsor Pond! We reflected upon our futures and he wished us well! God bless you, Roger! We know that the angels are so happy with you there by their side, guiding them to help others! See you in the not so far future!

To Noella and family, Gail and I extend our deepest sympathies at the death of Roger. I cherish our school years and the friendship we shared. Having been able to keep in touch over the past few years with our mutual friend, Bob Francis, kept our Adams friendship close. We certainly will miss him. Our prayers are with all you during this difficult time.
