Eugene W. Kuzia, 88

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Eugene William "Duke" Kuzia, 88, of Adams, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2025, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on Nov. 12, 1936, son of the late William and Genevieve (Sieczkowski) Kuzia, and attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams High School.

Duke worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. and its successor, Vishay Technologies, as a metallurgical engineer until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams.

His wife, the former Joanne W. Kaczka, whom he married on Oct. 19, 1957, died on Nov. 9, 2001.

He is survived by two sons, Craig E. Kuzia Sr. (Ann) of Adams, and Wayne C. Kuzia Sr. (Lydia) of North Adams; one daughter, Cheryl L. Proodian (Doug) of Carlsbad, Calif.; five grandchildren, Craig Kuzia Jr., Lani Kuzia DeBonis (Mark), Wayne Kuzia Jr, Derek Kuzia and Jaydon Proodian; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Scieszka.

I'm sorry to hear of Duke's passing. He was a great man and friend. I have many find memories spending time with the Kuzia family. From unforgettable trips to Wells, ME to family gatherings, Duke was always a joy to be around. He will be missed. Heaven has gained another angel. RIP DUKE.
