Jeanette Lagowski, 89

ADAMS, Mass. —

Jeanette (Wanat) Lagowski, 89, of Adams, died on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She passed peacefully in the company of her devoted husband and her daughter.

Jeanette was born in Adams on October 9, 1935, to the late Adam and Anna (Lizak) Wanat. She attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1953. She had also attended the former Bliss Business School in North Adams.

Mrs. Lagowski worked in the Ordnance Department of the former General Electric Co., Pittsfield, until retiring in 1973 when her family moved to the state of Florida. While in Florida she was a member and past officer in the Polish American Club in Lehigh Acres, was a volunteer at the Lehigh Regional Hospital for 10 years and a volunteer at the Lehigh Senior Center. She and her husband remained in Florida for 38 years until their return to the Berkshires.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 71 years, Frank Lagowski, whom she married on October 9, 1954, in St. Stanislaus Church; her daughter, Barbara Lagowski, and son-in-law, John Socha, of Adams; her grandson Adam Mumma and his wife, Michelle, of Niskayuna, NY; two great grandchildren, Emily and Dylan, and a number of dear cousins.

In May of 2006, Jeanette and her husband returned to Adams where she was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, and worked as a volunteer at both North Adams Regional Hospital and the Adams Visitors Center. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and traveling.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the nurses and CNAs on Unit 3 at Williamstown Commons for the tireless and loving care provided to Jeanette the past several years. They would also like to thank Joyce, the skilled hairdresser there, for making Jeanette beautiful every week. These people truly do God’s work on earth.

The funeral will be held on Monday, September 15th at 11:00 A.M. in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams.

Burial will be at a later date.

Frank & Barb, So sorry to read of Jeanette's passing. I have fond memories from the times Jeanette & Frank volunteered at the Adams Visitor's Center. At that time, I managed the V.C. and their closeness to one another was always on display each time they volunteered. Jeanette was a wholesome and wonderful person. I will miss her. May she rest peacefully. With sincerity, Joe
