Walter E. Slosek, 85

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Walter E. Slosek, 85, a longtime resident of Adams and most recently of Eastham, MA, died peacefully Friday afternoon, September 26, at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2025 and fought courageously for 8 months. Walter was born in Adams, MA on February 16,1940 to Stanley and Josephine (Dziok) Slosek. He grew up in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1957.
He was a proud member of the US Army from 1962-1967, serving as Military Police in France and Germany from 1962-1963. On September 6, 1965, he married Judith Kwasniowski and together they raised two children, Krista (Slosek) Tucker and her husband David of Marshfield, MA and Michael Slosek of Miami, Florida. He also leaves a sister, Stella Warren of New York. Walter was an outstanding pillar of the Adams community. As a young boy, he worked at his father’s business, Stanley’s Lumber and Building Supplies. He took over the business and eventually sold it in 2016, after approximately 40 years of ownership. Stanley’s Lumber served the Adams community for over a hundred years.
During his life, Walter gave generously of himself. Many were touched by his kindness and warmth. He took great pride in continuing his father’s legacy. Walter was also a longstanding director for the Adams Co-Op Bank for 35 years and chairman from 2004-2011. At the Adams Co-Op Bank, he shared his financial expertise with others and gained a network of friends throughout the community.
Walter was pre-deceased by his wife Judith in 2020, his sister Dolores Slosek and brother, Stanley Slosek. In addition to his two children, he leaves his four grandchildren, Adam, Emma, Elly and Abby, who adored their “Dziadziu” and enjoyed spending summers down the Cape, eating at clam shacks, seafood restaurants and ending with ice cream for dessert. He also enjoyed many trips to Florida and traveling with his son around the many beautiful sights.
