Walter E. Slosek, 85

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Walter E. Slosek, 85, a longtime resident of Adams and most recently of Eastham, MA, died peacefully Friday afternoon, September 26, at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2025 and fought courageously for 8 months. Walter was born in Adams, MA on February 16,1940 to Stanley and Josephine (Dziok) Slosek. He grew up in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1957.

He was a proud member of the US Army from 1962-1967, serving as Military Police in France and Germany from 1962-1963. On September 6, 1965, he married Judith Kwasniowski and together they raised two children, Krista (Slosek) Tucker and her husband David of Marshfield, MA and Michael Slosek of Miami, Florida. He also leaves a sister, Stella Warren of New York. Walter was an outstanding pillar of the Adams community. As a young boy, he worked at his father’s business, Stanley’s Lumber and Building Supplies. He took over the business and eventually sold it in 2016, after approximately 40 years of ownership. Stanley’s Lumber served the Adams community for over a hundred years.

During his life, Walter gave generously of himself. Many were touched by his kindness and warmth. He took great pride in continuing his father’s legacy. Walter was also a longstanding director for the Adams Co-Op Bank for 35 years and chairman from 2004-2011. At the Adams Co-Op Bank, he shared his financial expertise with others and gained a network of friends throughout the community.

Walter was pre-deceased by his wife Judith in 2020, his sister Dolores Slosek and brother, Stanley Slosek. In addition to his two children, he leaves his four grandchildren, Adam, Emma, Elly and Abby, who adored their “Dziadziu” and enjoyed spending summers down the Cape, eating at clam shacks, seafood restaurants and ending with ice cream for dessert. He also enjoyed many trips to Florida and traveling with his son around the many beautiful sights.

Funeral services and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Preservation Fund, PO Box 328, Adams, Massachusetts 01220. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements. To leave a message of condolence, please go online to www.paciorekfuneral.com

So sorry to hear of Walt's passing. As the director of the Brookfield School of Dance, The Studio and the Berkshire Dance Theatre, I was a constant customer at Stanley's Lumber as I renovated the building 4 times between the 60's and the 90''s! Walt and his staff were always so helpful and supportive through the decades. RIP Walt.

To Walt's Family, Please know that Walt's passing will leave an immeasurable void in the Town of Adams community. I first got to really know Walt when we served together on the Board of Directors of the Adams Cooperative Bank. His outstanding business sense was matched by his compassion and humility toward his fellow human being. Often I would be at his store and local contractors would come in and walk out with supplies without stopping to pay. Walt would trust them to return later and pay for the items, which they always did. That was the kind of trust that Walt had in others. I will never forget the kindness he showed my children when they would run into him. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Walt's family on his passing. You, and we, have lost a wonderful person. May he rest in peace.

Sure happy that Walt did his yearly visit a few months ago at my place on the Cape...we always enjoyed sitting on the porch with him and Michael and Judy before she passed....Great laughs on the porch in Provincetown or enjoying a coffee with him at The Corner Lunch in Adams.... he was one of a kind and will be surely missed.

RIP Walt. The kindest man we've encountered. When we were young and attempting our first DIY renovations, he was the only reason we succeeded. He has a mansion in heaven.

If there was anyone on this earth that possessed the kind and gentle ability to face humanity, it was Walt. It was inherited into the entire family including Stanley and Doloris. Those of us who have had the outstanding pleasure to know them and to do business with them can attest to that fact. Rest in peace Walt, you will be missed by so many people.

The Slosek Family, So sorry to read of "Dad's" passing. Walt was a man who loved his Community and made so many contributions both monetarily and those which were made by his "generous' heart to individuals in need ! Adams has lost a "giant"; a man who stayed grounded in his belief that goodness and kindness were keys to harboring a healthy Town. Walt WILL be missed. Rest in Peace. With prayers, Sincerely, Joe
