Sheila Wood, 78

LEE, Mass. —

Sheila Wood passed January 16,2026 at Bay-State Hospital in Springfield, MA., with her sons by her side. She was born on August 22, 1947 in Pittsfield, MA. Her parents were Rosemary Atcheson and Joseph Delphia, both of Pittsfield. She was widowed by Fred Wood, who passed away in April 1996. She is survived by her children Shane Emerson, and Robert and Toni Wood, and Mary Bienvenue, and her grandchildren, James and Nicholas Wood, Kevin, Jessica, and Jennifer Raftery. Her other son, William Wood, predeceased her in June 2020.

She worked at GE for several years in different capacities. When GE moved, it gave her an opportunity to pursue her passion. She became a paralegal and then a real-estate agent. She started her career at Carriage House real-estate in 1993. A few years later in 1997, Frank Brundage retired and she bought the agency. She has had many accomplishments while being a real-estate broker. Most notably, she was realtor of the year in 2006. She felt in her words “There is nothing more satisfying for me than guiding a family through the process of finding their perfect home”.

Her community service included being a member of the Kiwanis club for several years, and facilitated purchasing property for the high school vocational departments to build houses. She also was a long-time member of the Ducks Unlimited Beartown chapter and served as treasurer for 7 of the 16 years. She was also a member of the Lee’ Sportsman’s club, and served on Lee’s Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

She requested not to have any services. Since her best friend was her cat which she adopted from the Schenectady animal shelter, I’m sure she would encourage donations to any shelter since she always had many pets through the years.
