Richard R. Rathbun, 80

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. Richard R. Rathbun, 80, of Adams, died on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home.

He was born in Pittsfield on May 11, 1945, a son of the late Robert and Elsie (Field) Rathbun. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1963.

At the age of 16, Dick went to work for the former Chicken Stop restaurant in Cheshire until age 21 when he went to work for General Electric in Pittsfield until his retirement in 1992.

He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He had been a member of the Forest Park Country Club and Waubeeka Golf Links. He was also a member of the Polish National Alliance in Adams and loved Polka music.

His wife, the former Dorothy A. Michalski, whom he married on May 10, 1969, died on December 29, 1995.

He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Margaret Ostrowski with whom he made his home; three sisters, Patricia St. Pierre and her husband David. Barbara Stone and Susan Glacier; his brother-in-law James Carrigan and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Rathbun and by his sister Ruth Carrigan.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 20th at 12:00 NOON in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Friday morning from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
