George Scott Crawford, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — George Scott Crawford Jr passed away comfortably on March 16, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Palliative Unit of Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, Lebanon, New Hampshire. 

He was born on Sept. 3, 1942, in New Concord, OH, to George and Leola (Graves) Crawford. 

He was second in line to siblings Mary Faye, Anna, Billie Linda and Harry. He is survived by his first wife, Doris Graybill Gardner; his second wife, Kathy Hartman Hoke; and his third wife, and the love of his life, Karen Salvagni Crawford. Children: Teresa (Tom), George III (Pam), Lisa (Ken), Brett (Sherrie), Desiree (Ray), Danielle (Lonnie), Deanna (Dave) and Amanda (Joe). His legacy lives on with his grandchildren: James, Joseph, Joshua, Sarah, Kate, Riley, Ryan, Shelby, Samantha, Devon, Silvia, Scott, Brianna, Little Dave, Hadleigh, Payton, Phillip, and Tyler. Great Grands: Savannah, Cali, Everett, Jackson, Madison, Logan, Tayin, Kielyn, Easton and Baby Dave. 

He served his country proudly during the early years of the Vietnam War (1961-65) in the Air Force. He spent the most productive years as an over-the-road truck driver. He truly was happiest behind the wheel of a big truck.

After his retirement from trucking, he worked for Desperado's and Thrifty Bundle. He will be remembered fondly as the Thrifty Bundle Driver. His only true passion was his family and friends. 

In honor of a life well-lived, we invite friends and family of all ages to join us on March 29 from 1-4 at the North Adams American Legion. Formal burial services will be held at a later In Ohio.

So sorry to hear this Karen. George was one of my best friends and we trucked many a mile together. Been friends many years. As you know I am fighting my own battle now and won't be able to make the March 29th gathering. I might be in better shape for the funeral services let me know when and where. I feel blessed having the opportunity to know George. In my eyes I have seen the kind man that he was. He was thoughtful to not only his family but towards others such as myself as well. He would make and bring food to share. His smile would light up a room whenever he entered. George will be truly missed by all family friends and acquaintances. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family. George will now enter the kingdom of heaven where he will reside with our heavenly father. May you rest in peace George.

Many can tell you that George was a caring and thoughtful man. His smile always lit up a room. Someone that we all could look up to. He was a devoted family man.
