Joseph Lazarczyk, 79

Joseph Francis Lazarczyk, 79, of North Adams died on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a 24-year battle with prostate cancer.
Joseph was born on July 11, 1946 in North Adams, MA a son of the late John Frank Lazarcyzyk & Marie Rose (Tassone). Joseph attended local schools including St. Joseph’s School.
Joseph started his career in construction and food service and then found his niche at General Electric Company in Pittsfield where he worked for 22 years. Most of his life he worked two or three jobs to support his family. His goal in life was to provide a better life for his children and see them prosper. At the end of his life, he was content on knowing that his family would be fine.
Joseph was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church and the former St. Anthony Church. In his younger years he enjoyed trips on his motorcycle, bowling and camping. Later in his life he enjoyed bus trips, vacations to Virginia Beach and wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida which became his second home. He was known for his cooking of polish foods and his spaghetti sauce. Joseph was a staunched family man and hard worker and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kathy Jean (Oliver) Lazarczyk whom he married on June 25, 1966 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. He also leaves his daughter, Valerie Howe (Darren) and son Joseph John Laczarczyk (Christine). Four grandchildren, Jesse Howe, Brittany Howe – Deutsch (Derek), Nicholas Howe, and Michael Lazarczyk. He also leaves 4 great grandchildren, Anastasia, Isabella, Owen and Easton. He also leaves brother John Lazarczyk, sister Carol Bostwick and nieces, nephews, Michael Hassett who he considered one of his best friends and Linda Stevenson whom he thought highly of. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles Lincoln, Edward Lazarczyk. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff on the fourth floor at Cancer & Infusion Center BMC for all their care and support. A special thanks to Dr. Sean Mullally for his wonderful and compassionate care.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joseph Lazarczyk will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams,MA. Calling hours will be Monday April 13, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA.
