Germaine Gamache, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Germaine Helene (Perras) Gamache, 96, of North Adams, MA died Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born on April 16, 1930, in Plymouth, MA, Germaine was the daughter of Albina (Doucette) and Louis Perras, Jr. She attended schools in Stamford, VT, the former Notre Dame Parochial School and Drury High School.

Germaine worked at Sprague Electric for seven years and at Taylor’s Variety Store on River Street. In 1986, she joined Elder Services in Pittsfield and delivered meals to the elderly for 10 years. From 1969-1992, she was involved in real estate in North Adams. Never idle, she proceeded to work for the Adams Library for a couple of years, processing new books and making repairs with her “Green Thumb”. She retired in 1998 and during retirement, she was a volunteer at the North Adams Regional Hospital and the North Adams and Adams Public Libraries.

She enjoyed reading. Her favorite books were historical fiction. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She particularly loved being with family.

Germaine will be missed by one daughter- Ann A. Coury (John) of Canterbury, CT; and five sons- Gordon V. Gamache (Debbie) of Newburgh, IN; Thomas N. Gamache (Sylvia) of Evansville, IN; Timothy D. Gamache (Terri) of Adams, MA; Mark L. Gamache (Amy) of Pittsfield, MA and Nelson N. Gamache (Anne) of Clarksburg, MA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Ella M. Kingsley of Littleton, MA; and Beatrice Rubendall of Paducah, KY and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Germaine was predeceased by her brothers, Rolland Perras, John Perras and Charles Perras, and sisters, Albina R. Perras and Bernadette Bock.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Germaine Gamache will be celebrated Wednesday May 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Church, 21 Maple St. Adams, MA. Burial will be at a later date in Southview cemetery. A calling hour at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA will be Wednesday morning May 27 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. sorry for your loss remember walking home from school on reservoir rd. your mom would be out side talking to us kids so long ago..nice lady.
