Gail Bishop-Davis, 70

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gail Bishop-Davis, 70, of Newburyport, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on May 8, 2026, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Gail was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and niece. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Mark Davis, and their son, Stephen, both of Newburyport.

She is also survived by her sisters, Laurie Hendrix and Rebekah Kanelos (Jim), and her brother, Sean Bishop (Evy), as well as her nieces, nephews, & beloved in-laws.

Born in 1955 in North Adams to Beatrice and Walter Bishop, Gail graduated from Drury High School before continuing her education at Union College, where she graduated cum laude in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature. Prior to the birth of her son Stephen, Gail was employed by Fidelity Investments as a bond trader and systems and conversion analyst before working for Shawmut Bank as an officer of the bank.

A longtime congregant of St. Paul's Church, Gail served as a member of the vestry, an Eucharistic minister, and a leader and teacher in the Children's Sunday School program. Gail had an abiding love of animals, particularly cats and dogs, and a deep appreciation for art as well as many genres of music and literature. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, and other forms of needlework; she could often be found with a project bag and a cat, in a sunny spot on any given afternoon. Gail was especially grateful for the care and support she received from her oncology team at Massachusetts General Hospital.

An Episcopal liturgical service was held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newburyport.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Gail's memory to: Merrimack River Feline Rescue in Salisbury, MA and/or the International Myeloma Foundation.

Family and friends are welcome to join us for a graveside burial service on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm to be held at the Florida Baptist Church Cemetery located at 48 Church Rd, Florida (Drury) MA 01343
